Oak Structures

Whether you have a design or an idea scribbled down, we can help deliver your dream into reality. With a wealth of knowledge from years of studying existing historic builds, direct work in designing and building structures and working alongside architects, structural engineers and designers, we can build it, deliver it and guarantee your satisfaction with your frame.

Why Oak?

An iconic timber and staple of English architecture, it has the strength and durability to stand the test of time and the class and aesthetic to compliment any project. We believe in honouring our past and continuing the build design of the past. Traditonal joints are implemented in all our designs, most common of which is the trusted mortice & tenon, held together with a draw bored air dried oak peg. If you have any question about our methods, we would be more than happy to expand on these practices.

Our Process

Design
  • Initial meeting – informal discussion around ideas and site visit.
  • Design and designer agreement followed by client’s approval.
  • Further design meeting to finalise details.
  • Once you are happy that we have captured your vision a quote will be supplied.
Build
  • Upon receiving agreed deposit and build slot will be allocated with a build schedule
  • Timber is sourced and ordered
  • Frame is constructed in the workshop
  • Dry fit completion and disassembly
  • Constant updates with images attached. Clients are always welcomed to visit us during the build process.
  • Under completion the disassembled frame is transported to site ready for the frame raise.
  • Site Health and safety, crane, scaffolding and any other trades are allocated to a set time period for frame raise.
Site fabrication
  • Whilst the frame is being built off site the groundworks are being completed on site. (Quick sites build time)
  • Before the frame raise, we have the scaffolding installed on site.
  • Once the frame is erected it is over to the site team.
  • The project management and site work can be undertaken by Town Carpentry Ltd or we can supply and fit the frame only depending on the needs of the client.
